CAN'T WE ALL GET ALONG?

One of the most heartening uses for Reiki I've found, is to help rescued pets be calmer and more soothed, and to help pets get along.

My Claire was rescued from the street, at a Publix parking lot. Some of the store employees were feeding her, but no one had as yet stepped up to the plate and tried to take her home. It was obvious from her distrust of humans that she had had some pretty bad experiences. It took a long time to get her to trust me. At the time I only had Reiki I, but used it as much as I could to try and help. Finally, after repeated feedings and sending Reiki at a distance, I was able to take her home. She was uncertain only for a little while, then was a bundle of affection as she realized she would be warm, and safe, and well fed now! She and my resident cat BabyJack got along famously right from the start. They would cuddle together and groom each other.

All too soon, BabyJack's health took a turn for the worse. I did what I could as far as traditional veterinary medicine and natural remedies, but the sarcoma he had was aggressive. Reiki eased his transition, and then helped heal Claire and I from his loss.

Fast forward a few years later. Now in Roswell, I had a roommate who did feline foster care for a local organization. One of the resident cats was Lola, an inquisitive little girl who would find her way into my room every night, looking up at me expectantly. I would give her treats, play, and pet her as much as she would allow. Still she would end up at the foot of my bed or chair, looking up at me. It was pretty obvious I was in the process of being adopted! A couple months later it became official.

Good news for Cathy and Lola, a mixed bag for my Claire. At times she would hiss at this brash young upstart, but at times they would both snuggle next to me on the bed, although a distance away from each other. During this time I repeated Reiki I and added II, then added the Master level the traditional 21 days later. Since then I have sent Reiki to my cats regularly. They tend to lay down and snooze while I'm sending, and it has been of major help if the two have a kitty disagreement. Lola is younger than Claire by a few years, and sometimes when Lola wants to engage her in play, Claire is just not in the mood. I engage Lola in play to expend some of that catly energy, and give them both Reiki when that happens.
